The son of the first president of TRNC proposed leasing real estate to foreigners
Serdar Denktash, the former deputy prime minister of TRNC and the son of the country's first president Rauf Raif Denktash, suggested solving the issue of selling real estate to foreigners through leasing. The issue with land could be resolved through a financial lease for a period of 99 years.
The politician made this statement live on BRT. When asked how, in his opinion, the problem of selling real estate to foreigners could be solved, Serdar Denktash replied that the situation could be addressed through leasing.
"It is necessary to introduce a method of long-term leasing for 99 years. This will solve the problem of land loss, while the economic added value increases. We have talked about this, but no one understands or listens," said the son of the founding president of TRNC.
Serdar Denktash also added that at the moment, he and his team are preparing a comprehensive package of proposals, which will be announced in the near future after consultation with Turkey.
The former deputy prime minister also answered the question of what his late father would think of the current situation in the country if he were alive.
"I think all politicians would get a serious scolding from him," noted Serdar Denktash.
Regarding the resolution of the "Cyprus issue," according to the politician, "this process should be carried out with reasonable views and active diplomacy, not against the appointment of a new special representative."
