Today, the demands of livestock breeders will be discussed at the meeting of the Council of Ministers of TRNC

A lengthy strike by livestock breeders has been halted in Northern Cyprus. Today, their proposals will be considered at the meeting of the Council of Ministers.

Yesterday, Prime Minister of TRNC, Unal Ustel, met with a delegation from the Association of Animal Producers and Breeders. The meeting was dedicated to the issue of importing frozen meat to Northern Cyprus. Following the negotiations, both sides issued a joint statement to the press.

According to the head of the livestock breeders' association, Mustafa Naymogulları, the meeting with the Prime Minister went “satisfactorily”. The protesting butchers presented their demands and explained the reasons for the prolonged protest action. Unal Ustel, in turn, stated that the livestock breeders had ceased their protest. Today, on May 30th, their demands will be discussed at the Council of Ministers meeting.

“We have listened to the proposals. We will evaluate them in the Council of Ministers and announce our decision. As a government, we are obligated to protect both producers and the public,” said the Prime Minister.

Additionally, today's meeting will address the issue of milk price increases.

Recall that the livestock breeders' strike took place in Northern Cyprus in front of the Prime Minister's office for 10 days. Livestock breeders are unhappy with the government's decision to start importing frozen meat. The first batch of products from the Netherlands is expected to arrive in TRNC later this week.
