In Northern Cyprus, one of the most significant holidays in the Islamic world, Eid al-Adha, will commence on Sunday, June 16. This year, the festivities will extend over four days, with five days designated as public holidays.

The festive prayer will take place in all mosques across the country on Sunday at 06:10.

On the first day of the holiday, Northern Cyprus President Ersin Tatar and his wife Sibel Tatar will join the community in celebrating the occasion at 10:00 at the Presidential Residence.

The leader of the National Unity Party and Prime Minister of TRNC, Unal Ustel, will meet with party members at the party headquarters at 09:30.

Throughout the holiday period, the General Directorate of Police will ensure the safety of the population 24 hours a day.

“We have implemented all necessary security measures so that our people can observe Eid al-Adha in a peaceful and secure environment,” assured the police.

Emergency service hotlines will be operational around the clock: 155 for ambulance services, 199 for the fire brigade, 156 for the drug control service, along with other helplines for complaints and requests for assistance.

Prior to the start of the holiday, the police department has appealed to drivers to refrain from consuming alcohol while driving, avoid using mobile phones, fasten seat belts, and adhere to speed limits.

Due to the extended holiday period, precautions should also be taken against potential fires and thefts at homes and workplaces.

"Before leaving home or work, check your security systems, ensure that surveillance cameras, if installed, are operational, and remember to lock doors and windows. Also, inspect electrical devices and sockets, taking precautionary measures to prevent fires," advised the police.

Municipalities in TRNC have also taken additional precautions ahead of the holiday.
