TRNC Prepares to Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Cyprus Peacekeeping Operation
The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) is gearing up to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the peacekeeping operation in Cyprus.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly Numan Kurtulmuş, along with cabinet ministers, political party representatives, and numerous parliamentarians, will visit Northern Cyprus for the commemorative events.
Additionally, the TRNC will host Özgür Özel, chairman of the “Republican People's Party,” who will be accompanied by 174 Cyprus veterans, members of the Central Executive Council, and deputies. Special guests will include Dr. Ayşe Güneş Ayata, daughter of former Foreign Minister Turan Güneş, who coined the slogan “Ayşe went on vacation” (the slogan of the Cyprus operation), and former Minister of Labor Önder Sav.
The celebrations in the TRNC will feature special concerts by military and janissary bands, sports competitions, conferences, seminars, symposiums, and other festive events.
The highlight of the celebration will be a parade featuring 50 military ships, led by the Turkish multipurpose landing ship TCG Anadolu.
Additionally, on July 20, performances by the aerobatic teams “Turkish Stars” and “SOLOTÜRK” are scheduled.
