The tourist market in Northern Cyprus is set to receive a boost through additional tours from Turkey.
Representatives of the Cyprus Turkish Tourism and Travel Agents Association (KITSAB) and the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies (TÜRSAB) have joined forces to breathe new life into tourism in Northern Cyprus. One of their key strategies involves increasing the number of tours to the TRNC from Turkey.
A delegation from Northern Cyprus recently participated in the tourism and gastronomy fair of Mesopotamia, held from May 23 to 26 at the International Exhibition and Congress Center in the Turkish city of Diyarbakır.
In addition to showcasing the country's tourist attractions, the event also featured an array of products from Turkish-Cypriot cuisine.
During the fair in Diyarbakır, a meeting took place between delegations from KITSAB and TÜRSAB, with official representatives of the TRNC Ministry of Tourism also in attendance.
As part of their efforts to revitalize tourism in Northern Cyprus, the parties have agreed to focus on rejuvenating hotels (excluding casinos) and developing projects to expand cultural, culinary, natural, and adventure tours.
Transportation issues were also on the agenda during the meeting, with plans in motion to establish high-level contacts aimed at improving air ticket prices.
Additionally, a significant decision was made to integrate KITSAB agencies into the ROTA system implemented by TURSAB, which boasts around 16,000 members.
Legal research will be conducted to facilitate the inclusion of KITSAB members into the ROTA system, enabling mutual sales opportunities between the two organizations.
