Türkiye İş Bankası Marks 70 Years in the TRNC
A ceremony celebrating the 70th anniversary of Türkiye İş Bankası in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) took place in front of the Atatürk Monument at Kyrenia Gate in Nicosia.
The event was attended by Türkiye İş Bankası TRNC Regional Manager Serhan Akşahin, along with bank executives, branch managers, and employees. During the ceremony, a wreath was laid at the Atatürk Monument on behalf of the bank’s management.
In his speech, Serhan Akşahin recalled that Türkiye İş Bankası was founded in 1924 by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey. The bank opened its first branch in Cyprus on February 21, 1955, in Nicosia, and since then, it has been dedicated to supporting the economic independence of the Turkish Cypriot people.
Today, Türkiye İş Bankası remains the largest financial institution in the sector and continues to have a strong presence in the TRNC, operating 15 branches across six districts in Northern Cyprus.
