Turkey to Provide 12.5 Billion Lira to the TRNC in 2025
Turkey has released its "Presidential Program for 2025," which outlines a 12.5 billion Turkish lira allocation to Northern Cyprus next year. Of this funding, 8.5 billion TL is designated for investments in the TRNC, while an additional 4 billion TL is set aside to cover current expenses as credit support.
The program, prepared by Turkey's Ministry of Finance and the Directorate of Strategy and Budget, highlights key areas of financial assistance and infrastructure support for Northern Cyprus.
According to Kibris Postasi, the 4 billion TL from the total 12.5 billion allocated as credit in the Turkish budget will not require repayment. Although it is recorded as credit, it is only a technical designation for budgeting purposes.
Additionally, the program emphasizes an increase in seismic and drilling operations for oil and natural gas exploration in TRNC’s maritime license areas, aiming to boost energy resource potential.
To enhance maritime security, the Turkish Coast Guard Command plans to establish a coastal observation station as part of the TRNC and Eastern Mediterranean coastal monitoring system. This station will help prevent unauthorized maritime access to Turkey.
The funding also includes support for projects to identify, translate, and interpret historical archives and essential documents related to Cyprus, preserving valuable historical records and insights.
Moreover, initiatives are planned to improve international awareness and accurate representation of the situation in Cyprus.
