All quarter-final pairs have been determined at the Euro 2024 football championship. Yesterday, in the final match of the round of 16, the Turkish national team defeated Austria and advanced to the next round.

The match for the last spot in the quarter-finals between Turkey and Austria took place at the Red Bull Arena in Leipzig. Vincenzo Montella's team secured a 2-1 victory, thanks to defender Merih Demiral's brace.

The scoring started as early as the first minute, marking the fastest goal in the history of Euro playoff championships by the Turkish defender. He doubled Turkey's advantage in the 59th minute.

Austria responded with a goal scored by Michael Gregoritsch in the 66th minute. In the dying seconds of the match, the Austrian team had chances to equalize and force extra time, but goalkeeper Mert Günok's safe hands ensured Turkey's place in the quarter-finals. They will face the Netherlands in the next round, who defeated Romania 3-0 in their match yesterday.

It's worth noting that both of yesterday's round of 16 matches could be watched at Ramazan Cemil Square in Kyrenia. The mayor of the city, Murat Şenkul, announced the readiness of the venue to broadcast football matches on a large screen via social media.
