Traffic Accidents in Northern Cyprus Cause Over 5.2 Million Lira in Damages in One Week, Two Fatalities
Over the past week, Northern Cyprus recorded 80 traffic accidents, resulting in two fatalities and injuries to 24 people. The total damage caused by these incidents was estimated at 5,288,205 Turkish lira.

According to the weekly police report:
- One accident resulted in fatalities,
- 16 accidents caused injuries, and
- 63 accidents led to material damage only.
Causes of Accidents:
- 23 incidents were caused by speeding,
- 18 by failure to stop at intersections,
- 16 by careless driving,
- 13 by tailgating, and
- 10 by other factors.
Regional Breakdown of Accidents:
- Kyrenia: 27 accidents,
- Nicosia: 26 accidents,
- Famagusta: 16 accidents,
- İskele: 6 accidents,
- Güzelyurt: 5 accidents.
Road Safety Patrols:
During the week, police conducted road checks on 13,459 drivers, identifying 2,525 violations. As a result:
- 253 vehicles were banned from operation,
- 9 drivers were arrested.
