Library to Open at Ercan Airport
A new library is set to open at Ercan International Airport in Northern Cyprus. The Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment announced the project as part of the 61st Library Week celebrations.
According to Şirin Zaimoğlu, Director of the Department of Culture, the library—officially named the Department of Culture Library at Ercan International Airport—will open its doors on April 11.
The collection will primarily feature works by Turkish Cypriot poets and writers, along with a selection of children’s books.
As part of Library Week events, a seminar will be held on Monday, April 7, at the Small Conference Hall of the Atatürk Cultural Center. Librarians from across the country are invited to attend.
The seminar will include a talk by psychologist Bleda Tilkina on "How to Achieve Effective Communication." Additionally, Şirin Zaimoğlu will provide insights into how the new airport library will function.
The Department of Culture has also taken steps to expand library collections and encourage book exchanges. To support this initiative, agreements will be signed with Eastern Mediterranean University and Near East University.
