Hundreds of Passengers Stranded at Ercan Airport
Over the weekend, Ercan Airport experienced delays affecting multiple flights, leaving passengers stranded at the air hub for nearly 12 hours.
According to the online flight board on Flightradar, the affected flights included routes operated by AJet, Pegasus, and Turkish Airlines to Ankara, Istanbul, Adana, and various other destinations.
One notable delay was AJet's flight scheduled to depart Ercan for Sabiha Gökçen Airport in Istanbul at 15:10, which was delayed for over 12 hours. Local media reported flight postponements every 40 minutes, and passengers faced challenges in receiving clear explanations for the delays. The flight eventually departed at 8:47, as indicated on the online flight board.
The delays resulted in hundreds of passengers being stranded at the airport for several hours, causing many to miss their connecting flights.
Airport management later attributed the delays to high passenger traffic after the conclusion of the Kurban Bayram holiday and aircraft tire changes.
Currently, flights from Ercan Airport are operating normally according to schedule.
