In Çatalköy, a 19-year-old young man drowned in the sea
Another tragic incident occurred on the coast of Northern Cyprus as a young man drowned in the sea.
The tragedy took place in Çatalköy today around 11:30 AM, approximately 500 meters from the shore. Ahmet Deniz Tabakoğlu, a 19-year-old resident of Karşıyaka, dived into the sea from a boat belonging to his friend and did not resurface.
According to the police statement, the motionless body of the young man was discovered by his friend. The victim was brought ashore and transported by ambulance to Akçiçek Hospital in Kyrenia. Despite efforts by medical staff, they were unable to save him.
The investigation into the tragedy is ongoing.
Earlier reports indicated that with the arrival of the summer season, the number of incidents on water bodies in the TRNC is increasing. Beaches are lacking lifeguards. One person drowned in Alagadi, while three others were rescued,including a 7-year-old child.
