In Chatalkey, a serious accident occurred: a drunk driver hit a pedestrian
The injured woman suffered serious injuries.
According to the police press service, the accident happened yesterday evening around 17:30, in front of the Erdener market on the main road of Chatalkey – Kyrenia. The 41-year-old driver, who was behind the wheel in a state of severe alcohol intoxication, attempted to bypass the traffic jam on the shoulder near the Ozankoy intersection and hit 42-year-old pedestrian Artena Gatmaytan.
As a result of the accident, the injured woman is still undergoing treatment at the Dr. Burhan Nalbantoglu State Hospital in Nicosia with serious injuries.
The driver himself suffered minor injuries and was discharged after receiving first aid at the Akcicek Hospital in Kyrenia. He was arrested immediately after being discharged.
