At the "Arabahmet" Cultural Center, they will present "The Merry Wives of Shakespeare."
The new play by the theater collective "Baraka," "The Merry Wives of Shakespeare," will be staged at the "Arabahmet" Cultural Center. The premiere of the performance will take place on Saturday, March 9, at 8:00 p.m.
The play, which brings together female characters from William Shakespeare's plays "Romeo and Juliet," "The Merchant of Venice," "Macbeth," and "The Taming of the Shrew," questions patriarchy and addresses the problems of today's labor world.
The main roles in the play, written and directed by Nazen Shan Sal, will be played by Feray Karahüseyin Ergin, Merin Olgun, Muhammed Said Alpsöy, Serap Kızıl, and Şifa Alçıoğlu. Original music for the performance will be prepared by the music group Sol Switchi and musician Ahmet Güvenler.
Tickets for the performance cost 30 TL. They can be purchased at the "Hora Kitap" café and from 7:30 p.m. at the entrance to the cultural center before the start of the show. It is emphasized that the performance is intended for adults, and all theater enthusiasts over 12 years old are invited.
The Baraka Cultural Center, which has been fighting violence against women for many years, will donate all proceeds from the premiere to the only shelter in the country located in Nicosia.
The authors of the play thanked the State Theater of Cypriot Turks for their support and costumes, as well as the Department of Culture for their financial contribution.
