Work has begun in Famagusta on creating a city museum
The "Association of City Museums of Famagusta" has started work to transform one tower of the city wall into a museum and another into an art gallery.
The first city museum in Famagusta in the TRNC is planned to be established within a year in the bastions near the Akkule Gates, which were recently handed over to the Municipality of Famagusta.
According to the project being implemented by the association and the Municipality of Famagusta in collaboration with the Department of Antiquities and Museums, Bastion No. 4 on the Famagusta city wall will be turned into an art gallery, while Bastion No. 6 will become the city museum.
It is planned that the city museum will become a focal point for tourists and local residents, where they can learn about the historical and cultural heritage of Famagusta.
A tourist entering the city walls through the Akkule Gates will be able to climb the walls and explore the entire city, obtaining additional information at the tourist information office. With the implementation of the project, tourists will be able to obtain the most important information about Famagusta by visiting the art gallery and the city museum.
