TRNC Health Minister Dr. Hakan Dinçyürek announced another breakthrough in public healthcare: at the Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital in Lefkoşa, lung cancer removal operations were successfully performed for the first time in Northern Cyprus using robotic surgery methods. According to the minister, this event is a major turning point for oncological surgery in the country.

Advantages of robotic surgery and statistics:
Hakan Dinçyürek stressed that robotic surgery offers patients clear clinical benefits: a minimal level of pain after the intervention, a significantly shorter rehabilitation period, and a reduced risk of postoperative complications.
— The pace of technology adoption. The robotic surgery program in the TRNC is showing strong momentum. According to official data, in just 35 days since the equipment was launched in the country, 34 successful operations have been carried out with the help of the surgical robot.
— Prospects. The health minister noted that as training of local specialists is completed, robotic methods will begin to be used in other medical fields as well, and such operations will become routine for Nalbantoğlu Hospital.

Thoracic surgery specialist Dr. Çağrı Cemaller confirmed the successful completion of operations on two patients diagnosed with lung cancer. He explained that robotic systems are now the gold standard and the preferred choice in the treatment of lung oncology at leading medical centers around the world.

Dr. Cemaller and the health minister expressed special thanks to the management of Burhan Nalbantoğlu Hospital, the operating team, as well as the invited mentor — Professor Dr. Alper Toker, under whose expert supervision and technological control the first robotic lung surgeries in Northern Cyprus were performed.
