In Greece, the flame of the Summer Olympics 2024 in Paris was lit
On April 16, a solemn ceremony was held in Greece to light the flame of the 2024 Olympics, which will take place in Paris. This event traditionally symbolizes the beginning of preparations for the upcoming Games.
The ceremony took place in Ancient Olympia, where the ancient Olympic Games were once held. Due to cloudy weather, the first torch of the Olympic relay was lit from the flame obtained from the sun's rays during Monday's dress rehearsal. Greek actress Mary Mina played the role of the high priestess during the ancient ritual.
Honored guests at the ceremony included the President of Greece, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, the President of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach, and the Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo.
The Olympic Games will be held in France from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
