Ministry of Labor Opens Offices in Yeni Erenköy and Mehmetçik
The Ministry of Labor and Social Security has opened new offices in the municipalities of Yeni Erenköy and Mehmetçik.
At the opening ceremony, Hamit Bakırcı, the Mayor of Yeni Erenköy-Karpaz Municipality, emphasized that social services, social insurance, and personnel welfare fund services will now be provided locally rather than from a central office.
Minister of Labor and Social Protection, Sadık Gardiyanoğlu, highlighted that there is no village left from Yeşilırmak to Karpaz where the ministry does not offer its services. He added that social services will be provided for the first time in Yeni Erenköy and Mehmetçik.
Additionally, the Minister announced that in 2025, a rehabilitation center for the elderly will be established in Yeni Erenköy.
The ceremony was also attended by TRNC Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, who stressed the importance of having social service offices in the region. He noted that while the offices will initially operate on specific days of the week, they will eventually transition to full-time service.
