In California, was built a "bridge to nowhere" for 11 billion dollars
In the USA, the construction of a railway bridge, leading nowhere, has been completed. This peculiar structure cost taxpayers 11 billion dollars and took 9 years to build.
The bridge, which ends abruptly in a hill in a deserted area, is part of a high-speed railway project from Los Angeles to San Francisco. The project is still far from completion. At the moment, the completed section has neither a beginning nor an end. The segment of the bridge has been named the "Viaduct over the Fresno River".
Local residents have viewed the construction of this expensive structure skeptically and have ridiculed the state authorities for this seemingly pointless railway stretch.
Furthermore, the California High-Speed Rail Authority has faced criticism from Tesla founder Elon Musk and Dogecoin creator Billy Markus. Elon Musk posted a crying emoji to express his opinion on the futile project, while crypto billionaire Billy Markus jokingly called the strange bridge "the most wonderful achievement in all of human history".
It is worth noting that the construction of the railway from Los Angeles to San Francisco was approved as far back as 2008.
The total cost of the project exceeds 100 billion dollars. 11 billion of that has already been spent, yet at present, the completed section has neither a beginning nor an end—it exists alongside the existing railway tracks. The length of this section is 482 meters.
