Four Pedestrians Hit by Car in Kyrenia: Driver Arrested
A serious traffic accident occurred this past weekend in Kyrenia: a car hit four people who were attempting to cross the road. The driver has already been arrested.
The incident took place late Saturday evening, around 10:30 PM, on the main Degirmenlik-Kyrenia road. The driver, identified as Köröglu Aktaş, was behind the wheel when he struck 49-year-old Cuma Coşkun, 43-year-old İlknur Coşkun, 14-year-old Muhammed Coşkun, and 63-year-old Hatice Uludağ, who were crossing the road at the time of the accident. While the victims were receiving first aid, the driver was detained.
All four injured pedestrians were taken to Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital in Nicosia. After treatment, Hatice Uludağ was placed under observation in the intensive care unit, while the other patients remained under observation in the emergency department.
A police statement indicated that the driver was arrested and has already appeared in court. The court decided to keep him in custody for three days for further investigation.
