In Kyrenia, a fraudster has been caught attempting to sell someone else's luxury real estate.
The suspect was arrested at Ercan Airport while trying to leave the island.
According to the police press service, after the arrest, Ahmad Suleiman was brought to court. During the trial, it was revealed that the accused tried to sell an apartment belonging to an unknown person for £180,000. In August 2023, the potential buyer paid the fraudster an advance of $43,000. After that, the seller stopped responding.
Suspecting foul play, the victim approached the police on September 12. The wanted suspect was located and arrested at Ercan Airport while attempting to leave the country.
In court, a police officer stated that a land registry check would be conducted to determine the actual owner of the apartment. To investigate all the circumstances, the police requested to keep the suspect in custody for three days. The judge agreed to this decision.
