Rescuers in Nicosia Save Snake Trapped in a Tin Can
Employees of the Tashkent Natural Park saved a Black Snake that got stuck in an abandoned tin can on the ground. The stranded reptile was discovered in Nicosia.
The Tashkent Natural Park reported that a young black snake (Dolichophis jugularis) found itself trapped in a tin can while chasing a mouse.
It is noted that the snake survived; it was rescued with minimal damage, is in satisfactory condition, and will be ready to return to its natural habitat after a quick recovery process.
"The fact that wild animals end up in such challenging situations is closely related to our attitude towards the environment. Let's not forget that by taking responsibility for our trash and not leaving it in nature, we save many lives!" - stated the natural park in a release.
It is worth mentioning that all snakes in the TRNC are protected by the Environmental Law. The Cypriot Black Snake, or Cypriot Rat Snake, is non-venomous and poses no threat to humans.
