New Park in Nicosia to Be Named After Amach Arnavutoglu

A new park in Nicosia will be named in honor of Amach Arnavutoglu, who tragically lost his life during the earthquake on February 6. The project is being developed in collaboration with the Turkish Municipality of Nicosia (LTB), the Göçmenköy-Taşkınköy Cultural Association (GÖÇTAŞ), and the Göçmenköy Idman Yurdu Sports Club.

The park, covering an area of 100 square meters, will be located at the intersection of Raif Denktash Street and Dr. Fazıl Küçük Boulevard in the Göçmenköy district. It will offer the city another green space and a social hub for the community. The entire park will feature composite decking flooring.

Additionally, a 400-square-meter forested area will be included within the park. The space will be secured by PVC-covered panel fencing for safety. Dedicated areas for both sports and leisure activities will also be created. The park will be landscaped with modern designs and surrounded by concrete flowerbeds.

The construction of the Amach Arnavutoglu Square is expected to be completed by March.

In related news, it has been announced that a memorial ceremony will be held tomorrow to commemorate the victims of the February 6, 2023 earthquake that struck Turkey. The event will take place at Champion Angels Martyrdom Cemetery in Famagusta and at the Rauf Raif Denktash Cultural and Congress Center.
