In Paphos, three people were fined 21,000 euros for cigarettes purchased in the TRNC
In Paphos, three people were fined a total of 21,500 euros after cigarettes and tobacco products purchased in the TRNC were found in their possession.
According to Greek and Turkish media reports, on Monday, motorcycle police officers in Paphos stopped a car belonging to a 45-year-old man who resides in the Republic of Cyprus with permanent residency status. During a search of the vehicle, 850 packs of cigarettes of various brands, 159 packs of tobacco, and two packs of hookah tobacco purchased in the TRNC were found. The vehicle owner was fined 9,000 euros.
Furthermore, on May 3rd, during a search of the luggage of two passengers in the departure hall of Paphos Airport, the police found 645 packs of tobacco and 65 blocks of cigarettes of various brands, also purchased in the TRNC. The owners of the luggage were fined an additional 12,500 euros.
