Man Found Dead in Police Custody in Boğaz
A man being held at the Boğaz police station in Northern Cyprus has tragically taken his own life. He had been arrested on suspicion of violence against women.
Local media reports indicate that 41-year-old Aziz Sapartagaganov, a citizen of Turkmenistan, was detained for alleged assault and threats against women. The incident occurred late on the night of March 10, around 3:30 AM, when the man was found dead in his holding cell.
According to the police report, Sapartagaganov used a strip of fabric from his blanket to hang himself from the door. A doctor who was called to the scene confirmed that there were no signs of foul play or physical assault upon examining the body.
An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
