The Russian Embassy explained how the presidential elections in the Russian Federation will be organized in Cyprus
The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Russia to the Republic of Cyprus, Murat Ziyazikov, explained how voting will be organized on the island for the upcoming elections for the President of the Russian Federation. For the first time in history, Russian citizens residing in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus will be able to exercise their voting rights.
Voting in the upcoming March presidential elections in Russia will take place in Cyprus at several polling stations. They will be organized at the premises of the Russian Embassy and the Russian Center for Science and Culture (RCSC) in Nicosia, as well as in Limassol and Paphos. This was reported by the head of the mission in Cyprus, Murat Ziyazikov, in an interview with the TASS correspondent.
The diplomat also emphasized that for the first time ever, Russian citizens living in the northern part of Cyprus will be able to exercise their voting rights.
Murat Ziyazikov also reminded that the Russian-speaking community in Cyprus totals more than 120,000 people. Of these, more than 50,000 compatriots live in the northern part of the island.
"We receive many letters from our compatriots regarding the upcoming presidential elections, and we see that they care about the fate of Russia. Their active patriotic stance fully aligns with the key principles of Russian diplomacy: adherence to their own national interests and traditional values, and the construction of a multipolar world," summarized the Russian ambassador.
Diplomatic mission staff maintain close contact with local authorities regarding security at polling stations.
The Presidential Elections of the Russian Federation are scheduled for March 17, 2024. The voting will last for three days: March 15, 16, and 17.
