In Sweden, the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 kicks off
The Eurovision 2024 program starts today in the Swedish city of Malmö. The first semi-final of the international song contest will take place on May 7.
The official opening of the 68th Eurovision Song Contest took place last Sunday. As tradition dictates, all artists walked the turquoise carpet.
It was previously announced that the representative of Cyprus, 17-year-old Silia Capsis, will open the first semi-final of the song contest. She will perform the song "Liar." The young star was born in 2006 in Sydney, Australia, to a family of Cypriot origin. She released her debut song "Who Am I" in 2022, although she wrote it at the age of 12.
Representative of Greece, Marina Satti, will perform third in the second semi-final on May 9. This group will also include, among others, Austria, Estonia, Georgia, Malta, and Norway. The grand final of the song contest will take place on May 11.
It is worth noting that this year, maximum security measures are being provided in the Eurovision host city due to tension arising from the Arab-Israeli conflict. Special barriers have been set up at the performance venue, and police patrol the stage where the show will take place.
