In the TRNC, human traffickers have been arrested: they brought six refugees into the country in a truck trailer
In Northern Cyprus, three individuals accused of human trafficking have appeared before a court. They illegally brought six male Syrian refugees into the TRNC in a truck trailer. The illegal immigrants have also been detained.
The trial of the three suspects in human trafficking took place yesterday in Kyrenia. As a police representative told the court, the three defendants, along with three other individuals who are currently wanted, transported six Syrian male refugees from Turkey. Four of them were 16 years old, one was 15, and one was 40 years old. The suspects transported all six illegal immigrants by sea in a truck trailer from Turkey to the port of Kyrenia without completing the entry procedures.
All three suspects confessed. However, according to law enforcement officers, if the suspects are released, they could influence the course of further investigation, so they demanded their arrest for two days. The judge agreed with this decision.
