Mandatory Mask-Wearing for Upper Respiratory Tract Illnesses in TRNC
The Ministry of Health in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) announced that the Higher Committee for Infectious Diseases has made several decisions related to Covid-19. It is now mandatory for individuals with upper respiratory tract illnesses to wear masks.
Additionally, masks must be worn by people visiting nursing homes, hospitals, and prisons. This requirement extends to employees of nursing homes and individuals responsible for caring for patients over 65 years of age.
The decisions also emphasize that individuals at risk of respiratory infections should promptly consult a doctor if symptoms arise.
Doctors have also urged more frequent ventilation of enclosed spaces, such as classrooms and public establishments, and adherence to personal hygiene measures.
Furthermore, following the recommendation of the laboratory committee, laboratory diagnostic tests (including Covid-19 and other viral tests) used in the country should have a CE-IVD certificate.
