Draft Law to Restrict Strikes Published in the TRNC
A draft law titled “On Collective Labor Agreements, Strikes, and Referendums” has been introduced in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). The proposed legislation includes provisions to restrict protests in essential services. The document has been published in the Official Gazette.

Citizens and organizations are invited to submit their opinions and suggestions regarding the draft law. Written submissions can be sent to the Speaker of Parliament within 20 days of the publication in the Official Gazette.
The draft law’s general justification explains:
- “This amendment has been prepared to allow for the prevention of strikes in essential services when such actions could cause irreparable financial losses to the state, individuals, or legal entities, and/or critically disrupt the operations of the state or private entities.”
