Rauf Raif Denktaş Vocational High School Opens in Northern Cyprus
A new chapter in education began in Northern Cyprus with the opening of the Rauf Raif Denktaş Vocational High School. The inauguration ceremony was held on the 13th anniversary of the passing of the founding president of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Rauf Raif Denktaş.
The event brought together key figures from across the country, including President Ersin Tatar, Speaker of Parliament Ziya Öztürkler, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, Turkish Ambassador to Lefkoşa Metin Feyzioğlu, Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu, and Mayor of Lefkoşa Turkish Municipality Mehmet Harmancı.
Also in attendance were other ministers, members of parliament, government officials, and relatives of Rauf Raif Denktaş, who gathered to honor his legacy.
Speaking at the ceremony, the school’s principal, Rüstem Kal, expressed heartfelt gratitude to all who contributed to the realization of this important project. He specifically thanked the Republic of Turkey, the Central Bank, and the Ministry of National Education for their support.
The school, built at a cost of 222 million Turkish lira, is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and has already begun operations. It can accommodate up to 600 students, offering them opportunities to gain valuable vocational skills.
President Ersin Tatar paid tribute to the late Rauf Raif Denktaş, reflecting on his lasting impact on the nation. He also extended his thanks to everyone involved in bringing this vital educational institution to life.
