A record for car usage has been broken in Northern Cyprus
A record for car usage has been broken in Northern Cyprus. The number of registered cars in the country is approaching 377 thousand – almost one car per resident of the country.
According to local media reports, an average of 13 thousand new cars appear on the roads of Northern Cyprus annually. Out of 377 thousand cars registered in the country, more than 226 thousand are sedans, while the rest are business-class cars and motorcycles.
It is also noted that despite the exchange rate increase, decrease in purchasing power, and further rise in car prices, 11,520 used cars were sold in the country last year. The majority of these were Japanese used cars. Moreover, the number of new cars sold within the year reached 1,595.
