Diabetes Medications Become Pricier, While Pomegranates and Lemons Get Cheaper in the TRNC: October Inflation
The TRNC Statistical Institute has revealed the inflation rate for the country. In October, inflation stood at 3.22%. Compared to December of last year, prices have increased by 50.45%, and over the last 12 months, the rise has been 65.65%.
According to the data, the biggest price hike compared to the previous month was in the "clothing and footwear" category, which saw an increase of 22.73%. Following that were "health" at 14.74%, and "housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels" at 5.19%.
In the "other goods and services" category, prices went up by 5.00%, while "restaurants and hotels" saw a 4.75% rise.
In total, 594 items were reviewed in October. Prices increased for 465 items, while they dropped for 129 items.
The most significant price hikes in October were for hospital bed fees (240%), diabetes medications (101.30%), and national lottery tickets (60%). On the other hand, the biggest price drops were for pomegranates (50.31%), lemons (47.38%), and white cabbage (26.75%).
