A New Minimum Wage Announced in the TRNC

On January 17, the Minimum Wage Determination Commission convened to set the first minimum wage for 2025 in Northern Cyprus. The monthly minimum wage has been finalized at 37,818 Turkish Lira (43,469 TL before tax deductions).

This represents a 7.5% increase in the minimum wage. The updated rates are now 250.78 TL per hour, 2,626 TL per day, and 10,313 TL per week.

Tahir Serhat, Chairman of the Minimum Wage Determination Commission, stated that the decision was approved by a majority vote. However, representatives of the workers voted against the decision.

At the end of last year, Ahmet Serdaroğlu, President of the Federation of Free Trade Unions (Hür-İş), formally requested the Ministry of Labor and Social Security to convene the commission to determine the new minimum wage, which would take effect on January 1, 2025.

The Statistical Institute had also previously announced the inflation rates for December and the entire year, followed by the release of revised salaries for civil servants in Northern Cyprus.
