7 News Websites Blocked in TRNC
In Northern Cyprus, a decision was made to block 7 news websites that lack legal publishing information. Access to these sites was restricted following a complaint from the Journalists' Union.
The Turkish Cypriot Journalists' Union (KTGB) stated that they filed a complaint with the Information Technologies and Communications Authority (BTHK) regarding certain news websites that are published without legal information, in order to protect the integrity of the journalism profession.
According to the union's statement, BTHK decided to block access to 7 news websites reported by KTGB due to their violation of the law and notified the relevant authorities.
During the inspection, it was found that the news websites in question did not contain legal publishing information.
The websites in question are www.kibrisxhaber.com, www.kibrishaber.com, www.ulakgazetesi.com, www.sporhaberajansi.com, https://lefkoşa.online/, https://kibrisdakik.com, and https://kibristagundem.com.
According to the Journalists' Union, internet service providers have been notified to block access to these sites.
The Turkish Cypriot Journalists' Union also called on the public to report news websites that continue to publish without legal information.
