The first official portrait of King Charles III has been revealed in the United Kingdom

The United Kingdom recently unveiled the first official portrait of King Charles III, painted in striking shades of red by the contemporary British artist Jonathan Yeo.

The portrait was shared on the royal family's official page, capturing a scene of the 75-year-old Charles alongside the painting in Buckingham Palace's Blue Drawing Room.

Standing over eight feet tall, the portrait depicts King Charles III in the full regalia of the Welsh Guards, a position he held as Colonel since 1975, set against a vibrant red backdrop. Notably, a monarch butterfly is depicted above the ruler's shoulder, symbolizing metamorphosis and his commitment to environmental conservation.

King Charles III himself saw the portrait in its semi-finished state, initially expressing slight surprise at the bold color but ultimately smiling approvingly.

Charles III, whose full name is Charles Philip Arthur George, serves as the reigning monarch of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, as well as the Realms of the Commonwealth from the Windsor dynasty. He holds the titles of Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the United Kingdom and Supreme Governor of the Church of England.

Jonathan Yeo, the artist behind the portrait, is renowned for his contemporary portraiture. His subjects have included not only King Charles III but also notable figures such as Kevin Spacey, Dennis Hopper, and Prince Philip.
