By-Elections for Local Government to be Held in Northern Cyprus on Sunday
On Sunday, June 30, by-elections for local government positions will be held in Northern Cyprus. According to the calendar of the TRNC Supreme Electoral Council for the by-elections, June 27 is the last day for distributing voter cards, and June 29 is the last day for election campaigning.
Residents of the TRNC will elect mukhtars and members of the council of elders, including in the Güzelyurt district, as well as the head of the Lower Dikmen district in Dikmen.
Previously, the Republic’s Assembly decided to hold additional elections for vacant mukhtar positions and members of the council of elders, setting the voting day for Sunday, June 30, 2024. The decision was published in the "Official Gazette."
The previous local government elections in Northern Cyprus were held on June 25, 2023. At that time, the total number of registered voters in the country was 210,121.
