A tourist festival will take place in Kyrenia over the weekend
On April 20th, a tourist festival will take place in Kyrenia. The celebration will be the first major event to be held in the ancient port after the completion of restoration works.
The Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment, in collaboration with the Kyrenia Municipality and Girne American University, organized the Tourist Festival.
The performances will begin at 10:30 in front of the old Kyrenia Municipality building. The official opening ceremony of the festival will take place at the Ancient Port at 12:15.
Festival-goers can expect entertainment, musical and theatrical performances featuring various music and dance groups. Later in the day, there will be concerts by local performers and renowned artists on the festival stage.
Throughout the day, there will be an exhibition of caricatures by artist Mustafa Tozaki, an exposition of the 31st State Competition "My Lefke," and a cello concert. In the evening, there will be a showcase of traditional Cypriot clothing and a jazz concert.
Food, drinks, and handicraft stalls will be available at the festival. Free tours of the ancient port and Kyrenia Castle will also be organized for visitors.
"Tourism not only creates economic growth and employment opportunities but also allows people to better understand each other. The convergence of different cultures, traditions, and people plays an important role in world peace and understanding. Our country is a paradise for tourists with its unique natural beauty, historical richness, and hospitable people. We aim to further develop the tourism sector, protecting and enhancing these unique values of Northern Cyprus," said Fikri Ataoglu, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment.
