The Veterinary Service of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) checked 361 dogs for the presence of a microchip

Checks on dogs for registration and microchip presence have begun in Northern Cyprus. The country's Veterinary Service has already examined 361 pets in 86 vehicles in which they were transported.

According to the data from the country's veterinary department, the checks are carried out during the Big Hunting Season. Another such raid, in collaboration with veterinary management and traffic police brigades, took place over the past weekend in the regions of Iskele, Güzelyurt, Kyrenia, and Ziyamet. Legal procedures have been applied to the owners of 12 pets where the absence of microchips was detected.

As a reminder, the Veterinary Department previously informed that joint inspections with municipalities and the police are starting as part of the Dog Registration Regulation in the country. Administrative fines will be imposed on owners of unregistered dogs without microchips.

It is noted that inspections by the department will continue in the coming days. The department also reminded that dog owners are obliged to register their pets without microchips in accordance with the rules of the "Dog Registration Regulation."
