Turkey’s Vice President Pledges Continued Support for TRNC
Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz met with a delegation from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), led by Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, and reaffirmed Turkey’s ongoing commitment to supporting the TRNC in all areas.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s upcoming visit to Northern Cyprus, the official opening of the new presidential palace and parliament buildings, as well as preparations for the TEKNOFEST festival, scheduled to take place from May 1–4.
They also reviewed plans for the 2025 Economic and Financial Cooperation Agreement and steps to improve the investment climate in the TRNC.
Vice President Yılmaz emphasized that the meeting once again highlighted “the brotherly bond and unity of hearts and ideals between Turkey and the TRNC.”
“With the 2025 Economic and Financial Cooperation Agreement signed in Ankara on March 21 now in effect, we are immediately launching new support programs and projects. We will continue working with full dedication to ensure the prosperity of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, implement reforms, and build a strong future for our Turkish Cypriot brothers,” said Yılmaz.
President Erdoğan is expected to visit the TRNC this coming weekend, where he will inaugurate the new presidential palace and parliament building, attend the TEKNOFEST event, and announce new investment initiatives and development projects for Northern Cyprus.
