The authorities of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) will provide support to women entrepreneurs
Authorities in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) will provide social support to women entrepreneurs who start their own businesses for a period of five years. This was announced by the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Sadiq Gardiyanoglu, at the certificate presentation ceremony under the "Professional Training and Social Support Project for Women."
Certificates were awarded to interns who underwent training as part of the "Professional Training and Social Support Project for Women," organized by the Department of Social Services of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security in Yeni Erenkoy and Dipkarpaz.
The ceremony was attended by the Speaker of the TRNC Parliament, Zorlu Tore, Minister of Labor and Social Security Sadiq Gardiyanoglu, Mayor of Yeni Erenkoy-Dipkarpaz Hamit Bakirdji, as well as politicians and deputies.
In his speech, Sadiq Gardiyanoglu emphasized that the project is extremely important in identifying professions that are about to be forgotten and reviving the country's culture.
The Minister also emphasized that the Ministry of Labor and Social Security will provide support, including the minimum wage and social assistance for five years, to women employers who start their businesses and engage in basket weaving as their main occupation.
"We will support the contribution of women to production and the economy," said Zorlu Tore, the Speaker of the Assembly, during the ceremony.
Following the ceremony, an exhibition was opened showcasing the products of 45 women who underwent training in the art of weaving and basket making in the Karpasia region.
It is also noted that in 2021, the project was implemented in the Lefka region, in 2022 in the Karpasia region, and this year in the Yeni Erenkoy and Dipkarpaz regions. In 2024, the project will be implemented in the Mesaoria region.
