The French military attaché was called to the Turkish Ministry of National Defense after French military aircraft violated the airspace of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). The aircraft were reportedly spotted flying over Lefke earlier this week.

During a briefing, Turkey's Ministry of National Defense issued a statement regarding the airspace violation by the French military plane.

The Ministry emphasized that it is closely monitoring any developments that could pose a threat to the security of the TRNC.

“We want to make it clear that French flights in the region are being carefully observed and coordinated. The French military attaché was summoned to our Ministry regarding this incident, and our position on the situation in the region was conveyed to him. Communication channels remain open, and we are engaging in necessary assessments with our French colleagues.

We will continue to take all necessary military and political measures to ensure the safety of the TRNC and protect its rights and interests against any actions that violate international law. We remain committed to taking whatever steps are needed to secure the safety, peace, and well-being of Turkish Cypriots within the framework of our guarantee and alliance agreements,” the Ministry’s statement said.

It is important to note that the TRNC Ministry of Foreign Affairs had previously condemned the French military planes stationed in Paphos for violating the country's airspace. The aircraft were seen flying over Lefke, raising concerns among local residents.
