Doctors at Famagusta Hospital Achieve Success: Strike Ends!
The strike at the clinics affiliated with Famagusta's state-run hospital in Northern Cyprus has officially ended. Doctors have successfully secured the appointment of new medical staff.
The warning strike, organized by the KAMU-SEN and Kamu-İş unions in response to a staffing shortage, ended with the deployment of two nurses and a midwife to the Famagusta State Hospital.
Earlier this week, protests had erupted over the lack of personnel and equipment in the clinics and laboratories. In a statement to the Cyprus Turkish News Agency (TAK), KAMU-SEN President Metin Atan confirmed that the authorities had taken action to address the staffing shortage and sent two nurses and a midwife to the hospital.
However, the unions have now requested two additional laboratory technicians and have given the authorities a deadline of April 30 to resolve this issue.
