Since yesterday, there have been power outages in Northern Cyprus due to a boiler explosion at the power plant, leaving some areas of the island without electricity. At the moment, the issue has been resolved.

Yesterday evening, during a festival in Dikmen, there was a power outage. To ensure the festival continued, authorities had to connect a generator. Once the equipment was up and running, the festivities resumed.

Additionally, due to a malfunction in the high-voltage power grid starting from 01:31, several areas were affected. Those along the Nicosia - Guzelyurt highway between the Cooperative Gas Circle and teachers' residences, as well as between Bahcesehir University and Evsu facilities, the industrial zone of Alaykoy, the northeast part of Ataturk Street between Goneli Circle and Goneli Mosque. And the area from Gonyeli Circle to the Kofalilar site north of the Middle East University.

According to representatives of the Cyprus and Turkey Electricity Authority (KIB-TEK), the electricity production issues arose from the boiler explosion at the power plant.

It is stated that the power outages occurring across the country since yesterday are due to this incident. Currently, the aftermath of the explosion is being addressed, and the boiler will be operational by the end of the day.

No further power outages are planned for today.
