In Northern Cyprus, there were 6 fires and 26 incidents last week
Last week, the TRNC Fire Service responded to a total of 6 fires and 26 incidents requiring intervention from rescuers.
In the weekly fire department report, it is noted that the total damage caused by the fires amounted to 66,000 Turkish lira for the week.
Two fires occurred in Nicosia and Famagusta, and one each in Kyrenia and Gemikonagi. Possible causes of the fires include short circuits, gas leaks, discarded unextinguished cigarettes, heating, and explosion of a lighter inside a car, as well as arson.
In addition to the fires themselves, rescuers were also called upon to deal with the aftermath of various incidents. 10 private cases occurred in Güzelyurt, 9 in Nicosia, three in Famagusta, two in Iskele, and one each in Kyrenia and Yeşilköy.
Firefighters rescued people from cars after accidents, as well as cats trapped in the engine compartment of a car and in a well.
