68 Traffic Accidents in Northern Cyprus Over One Week, Resulting in 32 Injuries
Over the past week, 68 road traffic accidents occurred in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), leaving 32 people injured. The total damage from these accidents has been estimated at 3.8 million Turkish lira.
According to the weekly police report, the majority of accidents were caused by speeding (20 cases), failure to stop at intersections (16 cases), reckless driving (15 cases), and not maintaining a safe distance (11 cases).
Accidents were most frequent in Nicosia (20 accidents), followed by Famagusta (15), Kyrenia (18), Güzelyurt (9), and Iskele (6).
During nationwide road checks, 3,649 drivers were stopped, and 2,184 violations were recorded.
Out of these, 61 drivers were caught driving under the influence of alcohol, 151 vehicles were banned from further use, and 8 drivers were arrested.
