During the first two months of 2024, almost 170,000 tourists stayed in TRNC hotels
In the first two months of 2024, the occupancy rate of TRNC hotels increased to 31.3%. Tourism in Northern Cyprus is on the rise after the problems caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The positive statistics for January and February 2024 were released by the Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Environment of the TRNC.
It is also reported that the number of overnight stays increased by 35.6%.
The total number of guests, including citizens of Turkey and foreign countries, accommodated in the country's tourist facilities during the first two months of 2024, amounted to 167,413 people. For the same period in 2023, this figure was 118,688 people.
The report notes that the number of Turkish citizens staying in TRNC hotels increased by 52%, reaching 140,465 people.
The growth in the number of foreign citizens was more moderate - only a 2.31% increase compared to 2023. In particular, while during the first two months of 2023, 26,336 foreign citizens stayed in Northern Cyprus hotels, in 2024, this number increased to 26,948.
At the same time, the total number of overnight stays by foreign tourists increased by 35% compared to the 2023 figures, reaching 459,056.
It is worth reminding that it was previously reported that last year, Northern Cyprus was visited by about 40,000 Russian tourists who used the services of agencies.
