Resident of Northern Cyprus Tries to Rescue an Artificial Owl
A curious incident occurred in the village of Zeytinlik in Northern Cyprus. A local resident organized a full-scale operation to rescue an "owl stuck on the roof of a house."
The story was shared on social media by Kemal Basat, the director of the Taşkent Nature Park.
A call was received on the "1190" wildlife support line from a concerned citizen, reporting that an owl had been "sitting motionless on the roof of a building in the village of Zeytinlik for 3-4 days." The hotline staff found the situation strange and asked the caller to take a picture of the bird.
The photo sent made the animal protection staff smile: it was clearly visible that the owl on the roof was just a stuffed figure. However, the park staff still contacted the citizen to determine if his report was a prank or if he genuinely mistook the figure for a real bird.
"The citizen was very serious. No matter what we said or how we explained his mistake, we couldn't convince him that the photograph showed a model owl, not a living creature," shared the park director.
Desperate to prove the obvious fact to the caller, the hotline staff informed the municipality, police, and fire brigade about the situation and also called in rescuers to "save the stuffed owl."
