Residents of Kyrenia were warned about landslides due to heavy rains
Rainy weather continues in Northern Cyprus, which has led to the formation of landslides. This was reported by the mayor of Kyrenia, Murat Shenkul.
According to the mayor, serious landslides and rockfalls occurred on the old road from Dogankoy to Kyklades.
"We will soon start working with our teams in this area, and during the day we will decide whether the road will be opened or not," the mayor wrote.
Recall that last night, the Nicosia - Kyrenia road was closed for several hours due to heavy icing after hail.
"At the moment, Bogazolu Street, which we call the evacuation route, provides safe traffic movement. For safety reasons, police officers will be on duty on the road during the day," Murat Shenkul said.
The mayor also noted that in Kyrenia itself, many trees were uprooted in various parts of the city due to strong storm winds. The Kyrenia Municipality is in contact with all regional institutions.
"Based on the information we have, rain will intensify around noon today. Although there is no reason for panic, we would like to warn all our citizens to be cautious due to the expected heavy rainfall," the mayor wrote.
All emergency situations can be reported to the Alo 185 hotline.
