Residents of Famagusta and Iskele have complained about unknown beetles

Unusual insects have been spotted in the homes of residents of Famagusta and Iskele. Citizens are sharing photos of these unidentified beetles of unknown species and origin on social media.

As reported by "Cyprus Mail," after the pine processionary moth was spotted in various regions of the TRNC, causing problems across the country, a new plague has emerged in Northern Cyprus: a new type of insect can be seen in the regions of Iskele and Famagusta.

According to local residents, unidentified bugs have infested practically every house in large numbers. The published images on social media show small black beetles that resemble flies from a distance. In some photos, the insects gather in huge wriggling piles.

In the comments on these posts, citizens fear that if these new insects multiply, they could cause harm to both humans and nature.

It is also noted that similar beetles are found in other municipalities on the island, as well as in Greece. Some residents speculate that the wildlife was brought to the region with dust from North Africa.

It should be added that in Northern Cyprus, efforts to combat pine processionary moths continue, as they not only damage pine trees but also cause allergic reactions in humans.
